Hydraulic Underwater Pile Driving Hammers - MHU

The MHU hydraulic hammer is an integral part of on- and offshore installations. Ranging from 100 kJ to 3000 kJ the hammer design represents over 140 years of experience in pile driving. Our engineering team has designed a hammer that is easy to operate, easy to maintain, maximizes energy efficiency and has many safety features.

  • Energy efficiency: The double acting hydraulic system produces maximum energy efficiency upwards of 95 %.
  • Smaller footprint: The MHU and its components have been designed to minimize its footprint on a working barge. A MENCK deck layout is smaller than a traditional steam hammer set up. And we’re working to shrink it even more.
  • Light weight: The MHU is the lightest hydraulic pile driving system available. Our clients benefit of this weight advantage by reducing the number of add-on´s (pile segments) for inclined jacket piles (less welding = less installation time).
  • Optimized driving operation: The MHU anvil has been designed for maximum energy transfer. Built-in vent holes allow water trapped inside the pile to escape. With no ventilation holes necessary in the pile, the pile is not weakened and the maximum energy can be used to drive it into the ground.
  • Fewer components to worry about: The MHU is submersible and delivers its blow directly to the pile eliminating the need for expensive adapters and cushion rings. Energy is transferred directly from the hammer to the pile eliminating the need for a cushion block.
  • Time efficiency: The MHU modular design allows for easy transport, assembly and maintenance. No special tools are necessary; mobilization can be conducted in even the most remote locations.
  • Environmental friendliness: The MHU has a closed loop hydraulic system minimizing the risk of oil emission.
